Utilizing Google Alerts for Business Owners

As all successful Kaeser & Blair Business Owners know, it is essential to set yourself above your competition when working with current and potential clients. You have to demonstrate that you are the expert who has the products your clients need. Not only that, but you must also show that your products will give your clients proven results.

With all of this pressure, it can be difficult to keep up with the exciting new developments in the world of promotional products sales. You must be aware of the latest in promotional products news, tactics, and items. How do you keep up with this ever-growing industry?

An under-utilized, free tool that dealers can take advantage of is Google Alerts. Google Alerts is a content change detection and notification service offered by Google. This tool is well-suited for beginners and can serve as a powerful resource for selling promotional products. You get a list of content sent to your inbox based on a list of keywords that you determine.

When setting up keywords you want to track, first make a list of companies you would like to stay updated on. Is there a company that consistently puts out educational promotional products content? Are they innovative with sales techniques? Do they release new promotional products that could benefit your clients?

Next, think of companies or organizations that you would like to work with. This list can include current and potential clients. If you include their name in your list of keywords, then you will be notified of announcements for things that could trigger promotional item sales. This could include launching a new product or service, upcoming events, accomplishments, mergers, or a name change.

Once you have a list, all you have to do is log into your Google account and navigate to google.com/alerts. From there, add your list of company names and any other keywords you want to track. Be as specific as you can be, and then select the frequency to receive email notifications in the language of your choice. You can choose between “everything” and “only the best” results, therefore customizing how much content you want to read.

Once your Google Alert is set up, all you have to do is wait for a Google Alerts email to make it to your inbox. From there, you edit your list of keywords if needed.
